Vector Linux 6.0. Beginners Guide

Flash Video Tutorials for users new to Linux or New to VectorLinux 6.0.
The video tutorials in this section should get you comfortable quickly with some of the more common tasks.
Slackware 12.1: (VectorLinux is based on Slackware.  VL6.0 is based on Slackware 12.1
Display Managers: (Display Managers are where you choose the type of session you want to run.)

Desktop Environments:
(XFCE4, default environment for VectorLinux Standard.)

File Management: (Thunar is default but Pcmanfm is available as well.)
Software Installation: (Linux is not Windows, especially when it comes to installing software.)
How to video tutorial: What is package management?  How to request a package be made?
How to video tutorial: Gslapt Basics, an introduction to the graphical package manager.
How to video tutorial: Slapt-get, an introduction to command line package management.
How to video tutorial: Installation of TGZ files from other Slackware sites.

Menu's and Launchers: (Menu's, catagorized and customizable. Launchers for desktop or panel)

System Administration: (VectorLinux offers VASM Vector Administration Services Menu.)

Sound:
(VectorLinux uses the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture or ALSA)

Internet Connectivity: (
Wicd is now the default
wired and wireless network manager.)

Printing:
(Cups or Common Unix Printing System, handles VectorLinux's Printing. No driver cd's required.)
For HP Devices the HP Device manager may be a better option.
