Upgrading the Kernel in Vectorlinux

by ken2coul on Jun.28, 2012, under 02. Basics, 13. Hardware

Vectorlinux uses gslapt for software installation (and yes it does dependency checking :-) ), but Vectorlinux does not use the package manager for handling kernel upgrades.
Kernel upgrades are made available on a regular basis in the form of txz packages that are manually installed.
What the video to get a clear idea of the steps involved and maybe come away with an understanding that this is not as difficult as you may assume.

Mount Iphone/Ipod touch in Linux

by ken2coul on Apr.17, 2012, under 02. Basics, 13. Hardware

This tutorial is thanks to a request from a subscriber on the Youtube channel.  The tutorial addresses the steps necessary to get the newer Apple iPod Touch and iPhone devices to mount so they can be accessed by your Linux box.  Even if your Linux distribution can do this out of the box, you may find it helpful to know what is at work, so you can address the situation if something goes wrong.
